Skip the 4K webcam if you only do Zoom

Zoom, Meet, and Teams still throw most of a 4K sensor away. You are often paying for a badge the meeting will not show. The two cameras people still compare are the C920 family (around $70 CAD) and the Brio 4K (often three times that).

The C920 is 1080p30. That is all most platforms will show. It clips on a laptop lid. The S model adds a physical shutter, which the Brio still does not. In a room with a lamp in front of your face, it looks like a person on a call. That is the job. If you are a silhouette because of a window, move the light before you blame the sensor. A cheap key light plus a C920 beats a 4K camera pointed at glare.

The Brio’s real upgrade is not 4K. It is HDR auto-exposure so a window behind you does not cut you out, plus 1080p60, field-of-view options, and Windows Hello on a PC. 4K30 only pays off if you record files you will crop later. If you never export a file, you bought a cinema camera to attend stand-up.

Buy the C920 (B08D59LG1D) for internal calls if you can light your face. Buy the Brio (B09NBWWP79) if you record talking-head video, need to punch in, or sit with a window you cannot cover and you sell on camera.
